Electrosoft CEO Dr. Sarbari Gupta to Facilitate Zero Trust Cybersecurity Principles Panel at AFCEA TechNet Cyber April 26, 2023

Electrosoft’s CEO, Dr. Sarbari Gupta, will facilitate a senior cyber leaders panel, “Moving Toward Zero Trust Cybersecurity Principles,” at AFCEA’s flagship TechNet Cyber event. The conference will explore the policy, strategic architecture, operations and C2 needed to operate in a digital environment, successfully and securely. This year’s theme, “The Urgency of Action: Focused, Aligned and Ready,” emphasizes the need to harness cyber solutions that combat persistent attacks “that threaten global political, economic and security interests.” TechNet Cyber is scheduled for May 2-4 at the Baltimore Convention Center and is expected to draw more than 4,000 cybersecurity professionals from the federal government and defense, industry and academia.

“Cyber adversaries have changed the game of attacks, evolving their techniques and tactics to launch continuous assaults on our nation’s ever-expanding attack surface,” said Dr. Gupta. “This session will explore how the Zero Trust Model is turning federal cyber defense on its head, shifting the paradigm for securing government infrastructure, networks and data.”

SESSION DESCRIPTION:

The U.S. Government has embarked on an endeavor to improve cyber security, including critical infrastructure, by migrating to zero trust architecture with the deadline for executive departments and agencies to meet specific standards and objectives by the end of FY 2024.

OMB Memo M-22-09 states, “The foundational tenet of the Zero Trust Model is that no actor, system, network, or service operating outside or within the security perimeter is trusted. Instead, we must verify anything and everything attempting to establish access. It is a dramatic paradigm shift in philosophy of how we secure our infrastructure, networks, and data, from verify once at the perimeter to continual verification of each user, device, application, and transaction.”

Discussion will include the following topics:

  1. What is zero trust and how does it apply to data security?
  2. Why focus on zero trust? How is it different and why will it make a difference?
  3. How important is the government mandate?
  4. Do digital transformations and transitions to “cloud” make data vulnerable or more secure?
  5. Best practices for implementing the White House Executive Order on Improving the Nation's Cybersecurity Infrastructure
  6. What might the focus on zero trust miss?

Join senior cyber leaders to hear discussion about the move toward zero trust architecture in government, industry, and academia.

The session is approved for 1 CompTIA CEU for: A+, Network+, Security+, Cloud+, and Linux+; 1 GIAC CPE; 1 CertNexus CEC for CyberSec First Responder (CFR)
