The 8th Annual DoD Identity Protection and Management Conference was held in Anaheim, CA between May 15-17, 2012. Dr. Gupta spoke on the topic of Strong Authentication for Physical Access using Mobile Devices.  Mobile devices are becoming an integral part of the DoD Information Enterprise Strategic Plan and with increased utilization requires higher assurance identity authentication.

The presentation focused on the use of mobile devices for strong authentication to enable access to physical facilities. The presentation discusses several mobile device based strong authentication schemes that can be used for physical access. Also discussed were the strengths and weaknesses of such schemes along with mitigation mechanisms to make such systems practical and viable.
